Charlotte and Ben play online Scrabble together. They have never met. Charlotte has a best friend Bridget but lately Bridget has been drifting away leaving Charlotte on the outs without any other friends. In addition, her father has had a heart attack and Charlotte is having a hard time going to visit him. Ben has never really fit in but he has a plan to run for school treasurer and wow the middle school students. He is struggling with his parents' divorce which came out of nowhere. During the course of a week Charlotte and Ben start to connect more than just through Scrabble and also start finding other connections closer to home.
I liked this better than Hello, Universe. It does not end tidily but then neither does life.
