Billie lives with her Aunt Doff and her brother Leo. Leo is in the Marines getting ready to ship out when he brings a Navajo fellow Marine named Denny home with him. At the same time, a dog, Bear shows up. Bear becomes instrumental in providing hope to Billie and even helps Denny in the midst of a battle.
This was an okay book but I really wanted more details about the Code Talkers - just not enough for me.
