Nowhere Boy

Ahmed and his father are just trying to escape Syria - escape the war, escape the terror of losing the rest of the family, get to safety.  But there are dangers both from other people and from nature and on the way Ahmed's father is presumed drowned and Ahmed has to figure out what to do on his own.

Max's family has just moved to Belgium for the year.  Max doesn't fit in at all - he doesn't know the language or the culture but when Max discovers Ahmed hiding and living in the wine cellar of the new house he finds a purpose and a mission - keep Ahmed safe.

But how long can the boys keep up the secret?

This was a really good book - powerful really and thought provoking about the current refugee situation.
