Sophia has always believed that she will follow in her older sister's footsteps - be a pitcher and play for the Waves. When she fails to make the team she is devastated. Add to that middle school challenges - friends, boys, etc - and Sophia is pretty frustrated. Can she find her own way with a new team?
This is pretty typical middle grade fare. The sports angle and the Latino heritage are nice additions and I would recommend the book for collections that need more of either or both.
