Jamila and Metai have been friends for a long time. Sure they have their differences but they have always been tight. But since the incident with Tai's father, Mila has been avoiding her - first by going somewhere for the summer and not texting and now by making new friends and standing up for herself. To top it off their is a new program for drama, music, and dance that everyone is interested in except Tai. What will happen to their friendship when the truth finally comes out.
There is good diversity in this book which is a plus. I feel that some of my students will have difficulty with the slang - not sure. The incident with Tai's father makes this more of a middle grade novel for sure.
