Travels with Gannon and Wyatt: Great Bear Rainforest by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet

This is the second book in this series.  In this adventure Gannon, Wyatt, and their parents join an expedition to the Great Bear Rainforest in the Northwest.  While there they discover that something is preventing the salmon from returning up the river to spawn which in turn is causing the grizzlies to starve.  When the Captain and Dr. Brezner fail to return from exploring an island, Gannon and Wyatt's parents go searching for them.  When they also fail to return Gannon and Wyatt set out.  As in the first book the story gets a bit unbelievable at some points, but again boys especially would probably like it.  It helps that the book is written in journal format and has great photographs.  I actually liked this one better than the other one.  Maybe it is a familiarity with the characters but I also thought the writing was a bit better.  I liked the fact that it was set in a Pacific Northwest rainforest instead of a rainforest in Central or South America because students are usually not aware of the Pacific Northwest rainforests.

Ribbet...
