The Secret Mission of William Tuck

The book opens when William's older brother is killed by British soldiers and William decides to enlist in the war as a drummer.  In one of his first battles William is injured and also comes upon an injured man, the Watchmaker, who has a secret message meant for George Washington.  William then sets off on an adventure to find George Washington manuevering through spies and counterspies, spending a stint on a prison ship, and being injured.

There were cool spies and codes and the horror of the prison ship was good information which is often unknown.  But....a lot of the book was redundant, the friendship with William and Rebecca happened really fast, and it was hard to keep track of the spies, counterspies, and multiple messages.  A little too busy for the intended audience...
