The Witch's Boy

Ned and his twin brother Tam are fun loving kids until an accident kills Tam.  In desperation, their mother, Sister Witch, attaches the soul of Tam to Ned through her use of magic.  As the years pass Ned becomes known as the wrong boy.  In other parts of the world a girl named Aine loses her mother and then loses her father to a mysterious magical pendant.  Two kingdoms on opposite sides of a forest are separated by history and legends but with the help of Aine's father, the Bandit King, the king of Duunin decides to pay the other kingdom a visit. Can Ned and Aine work together to right the wrongs and keep the kingdoms from fighting.

This was a satisfying story.  There was good character development, good action, and a good ending.  It was a bit long - which I know I say a lot but for my 4th and 5th graders a book this long can be daunting.
