I am not quite sure what to do with this. I loved One and Only Ivan so I wanted to love this one too. But something was missing for me. I liked the aspect of the homelessness and how Jackson is struggling with feeling that it is going to happen again. But Crenshaw. I didn't feel the connection. Maybe there wasn't enough to his original connection with Jackson when his family was living in the van. There just didn't sem to be enough Crenshaw to build the relationship. And then..it seemed like every interaction they had - Jackson was just trying to get rid of him.
What will kids think?? Hard to say...those who like fantasy about animals probably don't want the sadnss of homelessness. Nope...didn't work for me.
