Icebreaker

In a futuristic world, a society of people live aboard an icebreaker ship and have lived there for 300 years.  Divided into factions, there is an uneasy peace between the groups and life is hard.

One day, Petrol, an outcast on the ship and an orphan sees a boy alone on an iceberg.  She manages to get one of the leaders to rescue the boy not knowing that this boy has been sent to destroy the ship and the machines that run it.

The book was interesting in a way...because of the prologue the reader knows there is an anti-machine movement and there is a robotic boy.  This boy doesn't resurface again until close to the end of the book.  I think what I didn't like was the life aboard the ship.  Really - 300 years on board a ship near Antarctica?  Scurvy - shouldn't that have been a huge issue???  I felt that there wasn't enough world building and too much was left undone and unsaid.
