Fly Away

Patricia MacLachlan's books are such short, quiet gems.  This is a simple book about a family going to help out an Aunt during a flood.  Lucy wants to be a poet and enjoys music but she can't sing.  Her little brother Teddy is just learning to speak but sings to her every night.  When the flood and its aftermath threaten the family Lucy finds her voice.

I enjoyed this book quiet a bit.  Gentle and easy for some of my younger readers.
