Don't know if it's a secret that I have a connection to the Spanish language. I took Spanish in high school, did my student teaching in Puerto Rico, but more recently have traveled several times to Guatemala. What I found really interesting about these poems is that the author does not really even speak Spanish but was drawn to the langage through another book she wrote. Then, she wrote these poems in Spanish first. I felt the poems were quite well done. I wish I had an audience for the Spanish at my school.
