I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. Urus is a boy who was born deaf and is not able to conform to the demands of his society and is set to be culled. He attempts suicide in the first chapter but miraculously survives. Thus begins a journey where he discovers what he really is and fights against the blood witches who want to discover and destroy the five vertices.
I just felt there were too many unanswered question about the setting, the vertices, the different people. There wasn't enough explanation and the ending just left me angry. For my age group I also felt there was too much gore, innuendo, and language.
