The Children of the King

Cecily and Jeremy have been sent to the country to escape the dangers of London during World War II.  Along with their mother, they stay at Heron House which belongs to their uncle.  Upon arriving they decide to take in another evacuee named May.  While playing Cecily and May discover an old castle and 2 mysterious boys.  While they think they are runaway evacuees upon hearing their uncle's tale of kings, dukes, and the legend of the old castle they begin to suspect that the boys are not what they seem.  In the midst of this Jeremy struggles with hiding out at Heron House and fulfilling a purpose during the war.

Historical fiction can be a hard sell.  This book had the potential of a creepy factor with the two boys but while I liked the book it never really succeeded in totally drawing me in.
