This is a hard book to describe. Last night before I went to bed I got to a section where Trista (or Triss or Not-Triss) was encouraged to eat her sister Penn. Yep. This was a creepy, folklore type story. It is a story that reminds us to be careful what we wish for or maybe how we wish for it. It's long and for that reason it probably will not be Maine Student Book Award material and yet... I thought the writing was great - especially at the end. Trust was a great character who really "grew" as did Penn. I would definitely recommend this to older students.
