Ruby's mom is in prison and she has never told anyone. Perhaps that is why she has no close friends - she keeps her mom a secret and getting too close to someone would be too hard. But when Ruby meets Margalit she begins to wish for something more. Can she trust someone else with her secret? Will Margalit still like her even if what Ruby begins to suspect is true?
This was a great look at what it might be like for a child whose parent is in prison. Ruby's emotions, fear, and even anger come across as very real and powerful. This book was short, accessible,and yet poignant.
