This is a modern retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. In this version Eira (snow in Welsh) lives in a high rise in NYC. When her stepmother asks the valet, Hunter to take Eira to the Bronx to kill her he lets her go. She meets up with 7 thieves who let her stay at their apartment. Unfortunately, while they are out trying to find out more about her stepmother, Eira lets in a nice little old lady (even though she was told not to) who poisons her. Fortunately, one of the thieves has fallen for her and ends up kissing her which wakes her up. Then the group traipses off to confront the stepmother and break her spell over others.
This is a bit cheesy and not worthy of awards or even being on our MSBA list (sorry) but it will fit the bill for a compare/contrast to the original and because of it's readability may be good for some high interest/ low readability students.
