Maddie is a middle child from a busy family. She's a bit quirky, loves poetry, and feels left out. In typical middle school coming of age fiction, her best friend discovers new friends and Maddie feels left behind. Enter Jasmine a beautiful girl who is hiding the fact that she and her mom are living in a trailer park and her great clothes came from some charity. There are a lot of stops and starts, misunderstandings, and growth.
Although the themes were similar to many others, I felt that it was different enough to be a good read. I can see girls enjoying this book.
