Saturday's Reading

I have never read an Alvin Ho book before and I am pretty sure we don't have any in our library but I liked it.  More than I thought I wold.  Alvin is afraid of pretty much everything.  In this book he is fearful of his mother's pregnancy and even has a sympathetic pregnancy himself, he is afraid of the burglaries in the area, and he is worried about playing hockey.  This was a quick, fun read - great for the 3rd graders in my building.

For my readers I felt that the main character was too old.  I also felt that even though the focus was on the San Francisco earthquake and fires after it just didn't sustain the drama and danger.  It was just ho hum to me.
