The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
A few years ago the picture book with the same title was on our Chickadee list. I found it a fascinating story. How ateenage boy built awindmill out of "junk" and was able to generate electricity. In this young reader's edition of William Kamkwamba longer novel the story is more fleshed out. Again - fascinating. It tells of William's early life and schooling, a huge famine in Malawi, and then his creation of the windmill and beyond. While the story has a lot of technical information, I did not feel it was too much or "boring" for the reader. Inspirational!!
