Mysteries of Cove: Fires of Invention
Trenton has always wanted to be a mechanic, he loves figuring out how things work. But his creativity and ingenuity are frowned upon in the city of Cove. Cove was created by people trying to escape from the evils of technology which caused the world to become polluted. Now Trenton is being punished for his creativity by being sent to work in food production instead of mechanics.
When Trenton discovers an odd piece of metal his quest to figure out what it is leads to him becoming friends with Kallista, the daughter of a mad inventor, Together Trenton and Kallista discover more mysterious parts and in doing so discover the truth about their city.
I really enjoyed this book. In some ways it had a City of Ember feel. There was a good mystery, a good relationship between Trenton and Kallista, and a twist I didn't see coming. There will be more in the series but the book had a good ending. Really enjoyed this. Wish I hadn't received just an ARC because I would love to get this right into my library.
