I love a good Louis Sachar book and this one was great. He packed a lot into 192 pages and I applaud him for that (and my reluctant readers will too).
Marshall and Tamaya attend a private school. Both are having friend issues. Marshall in particular has trouble with a bully named Chad. When Chad threatens him, Marshall decides to take a short cut through the woods to avoid him. While Marshall and Tamaya are in the woods they get lost and Tamaya finds a fuzzy looking mud. When Chad finds them and attacks she scoops up some mud and flings it at Chad's face. Then the trouble happens - that mud is not normal and soon Tamaya, Chad, Marshall and even their whole community is in danger.
Interspersed with classifed government documents this book tackles bullying, cause and effect, math, global issues, and more. This was great!!!
