This was a really interesting book. It took a modern setting but threw in dragon slaying. What I liked about it was how certain aspects of history were tied in with the dragons. I also liked the relationship between Owen and his bard Siobhan. This was surprisingly good and not at all what I expected.
That said, for my students, mainly grades 4 and 5 I think this is a bit too complex and the historical references will be over their heads. I also felt there was a bit of a lag in the middle of the book but overall I enjoyed it.
