This was a cute science fiction book. Chorkle lives with his "race" on an asteroid but when some humans arrive and start mining things get interesting. Chorkle's people decide to scare the humans into leaving by using an ancient weapon to create an asteroid quake. Chorkle feels guilty and tries to warn the humans but instead ends up causing 4 children to be stranded on the asteroid. Chorkle then attempts to first hide the kids until their parents can come back to get them but then they are all discovered. In the end another race comes to steal the weapon and there is a battle.
The book was funny and there was some good interplay with the characters. I didn't really like how it ended but of course it was a set up for a sequel. It was a bit long for my taste - yes I have said that a few times before ;0
