All the Answers
Ava is a worrier. What ifs scare her. One morning as she prepares for a math test she grabs a blue pencil from the kitchen drawer. During the test - as she freezes up as normal - she writes down a question and hears an answer. She soon discovers that the pencil can answer factual questions. But how helpful is that? Is is just making her anxiety worse.
At first I thought the book was going to be kind of fluffy. In fact it reminded me of an Arthur episode with his lucky pencil. But, as the book progressed, Ava learned a lot about herself and forgiveness, anxiety, and dependence. I really enjoyed it. Score another one for Kate Messner.
