Arcady's parents were arrested as "enemies of the state" when Arcady was just a baby. Since then he has lived in various "homes" struggling to find acceptance and survive. Arcady loves soccer and is so good that he draws the attention of the guards. At one performance he draws the attention of an inspector and that inspector decides to adopt him. Can Arcady truly be given the chance to live a normal life, play soccer, and maybe even learn to love?
I have never read Breaking Stalin's Nose so I have nothing to compare this to but I really enjoyed it. I felt it was accessible to a range of students even if they don't have a background in Russian history. This was a winner for me.
