This was a cute little mystery (96 p) about a squirrel whose nuts were stolen. Detective Gordon (a toad) is on the case and receives help from a tiny new apprentice Buffy. The story is quite simple and while it is a cute mystery it is probably too simple for the MSBA list. I do think my early readers - 2nd and 3rd graders would enjoy it and I think it would make a cute read aloud. Detective Gordon has a cute way with words and his relationship with Buffy is nice.
