Nightingale's Nest

Wow!!!  So good!!!  Little John's family has gone through quite an ordeal since the death of Raelynn the year before.  His mother can't accept that her daughter is gone, dad is drinking, and they are struggling to make ends meet.  Little John feel like his sister's death was his fault and is struggling to somehow make up for it.  While working with his dad over the summer Little John meets Gayle, a mysterious foster child with an amazing voice.  Somehow her voice is healing to those who hear it.  A rich man hears Gayle's voice and wants to record it and offers Little John money to get her to sing for him.  In doing so he betrays her trust and starts a chain reaction.

This was a beautiful book.  The language was fabulous and the emotions were strong.  This has become a favorite.
