When Sam overhears his parents talking one night he believes they have decided to put their dog Pogo, who is old and has cancer, to sleep. Sam can't bear to lose his dog, especially when his brother Steve had told him to take care of the dog right before he left for Afghanistan, where he was killed. So Sam takes the dog and the sailboat and runs away. He then faces one disaster after another - loses the sailboat, storms, hunger, thirst, stranded on a wrecked ship, fog, sharks. Can Sam and Pogo ever make it home?
It was a little much - really one disaster right after another. And in the end...we don't know what happens to the dog!!!
