This looks to be a reprint from the late 90s...from Canada??? Grr???
In 1857, Peter Griffin joins an expedition that is trying to find out what happened to his Uncle over 12 years before. The book is told in a diary format and tells about their adventures, the cold, being stuck in the ice, and discovering artifacts that help lead to a possible solution for the disappearance. Peter learns a lot during the voyage - both about himself, the world around him, and what it means to survive.
I thought the book was pretty good...being historical and especially about a Canadian event as opposed to American I am not sure of the appeal in my particular library.
