Whole in the Clouds

Cora is overweight and just doesn't seem to fit in.  Her adopted mom keeps trying to get her to go on a diet but her adopted dad keeps sneaking her food.  One day she meets a strange man in the woods who tells her she actually comes from Cloudin.  Unfortunately the time is not right for her to return and Cora spends a few more weeks in the Backworlds (Earth) and gets a new dog named Motley.  Finally, the strange man comes back to get her and together they go to Cloudin where Cora is reunited with her parents and her body reflects the beauty within.  She also finds out about a feud between her family and another and in true Romeo and Juliet style her "match" is the enemy's son.

This was a pretty quick read and interesting enough that I kept reading.  I found the adoptive mother to be very one sided - her daughter needed to be thin and then the adoptive father was so not helping.  Cloudin itself was interesting but I don't feel like any of the characters were developed fully enough, especially the villain that we only met briefly.  The ending also seemed rushed and the choice that had to be made was pretty severe.  It wasn't a bad read overall just not my favorite.
