Jake and his friend Sam have been inseparable for years - running track, cross country, playing war games - until the events of September 11th change all that.  Suddenly Jake's mom can't be around Sam's family who are Muslim, Sam's dad knew one of the terrorists and is taken away by the FBI, the school bully is up in arms, and everyone around Jake is scared.  Jake is angry - at his mom, the terrorist, the bully, and even Sam who becomes distant.  

This was a good story about the days and weeks following September 11th and people's reactions.  I think as a read aloud and discussion piece with older students this would be great.  Good emotions and the book moved along well.
