Taylor's dad is a special something in Vietnam. He and his mom never really see him and even when they do he's distracted by war work. So they decide to travel to Vietnam for his 50th birthday. But Taylor is restless and looking for action and decides to run off and go to a party. Then things go horribly wrong. Saigon is attacked and Taylor is captured. Soon he is on the move along the Blood Road with his captors for who knows what. Taylor suffers through interrogations, bombing, death all around, hunger and thirst but most of all uncertainty. Who is right? Who is wrong? Along the way he actually becomes friends with one of his captors Phuong. Will Taylor ever be rescued? Then what?
This was pretty intense but I can see an audience for this type of historical fiction.
